The Kayak Polo Nationals were recently held in N.C. After competing, NYC team player Mikhail stopped in to visit Savannah Canoe & Kayak for some sea and surf R&R.
Once again October has been true to itself with fine weather, surf, and miles of empty beaches.
With 9ft high tides, the mid-tide ebbs gave us the best conditions on the south side of the Triangle. We bobbed about in both short and long surf kayaks for two days. Comrade Mikhail got to pilot the high performance Tiderace Xcite, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Mikhail said several times of the demo model,
"Very fast kayak".
Surf report for the OBX Surf Kayak Nationals this weekend is small, but decent. Three Tybee surf paddlers are attending the competition.
