The Savannah 2009 Earth Day Festival will be held Saturday, April 18, at the south end of Forsyth Park, and the theme this year is a timely one:Be green, Save Green.
-Educational exhibits demonstrating low-cost environmental tips
-Free classes including composting, green parenting, and building a rain barrel
-Free prizes including an Earth Machine outdoor compost system, a kitchen compost worm bin stocked with red wrigglers, and a rain barrel
-Free live entertainment and performances-- all using solar-powered amplification systems.
The Festival will come to a close with the Earth Day Savannah Wheelie Community Bike Ride. This evenly-paced ride, open to all bicyclists, leaves from Forsyth Park at 3 p.m. and winds its way through downtown to end at Blowin' Smoke BBQ on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
